Required Books for English 2320, Spring 2020

If you choose to buy the books elsewhere used elsewhere, that is your choice but you must have all of these books in the Broadview edition by the beginning of the semester. We’ll begin working with the first anthology listed on the second day of class.

  • The Broadview Pocket Glossary (ISBN: 9781554811670). Also available as an ePub for $6.95. I think that this would actually be a very useful form if you are so inclined. You must use this edition.
  • Jane Austen, Persuasion, Broadview. (ISBN: 9781551111315). You must use this edition.

Kazuo Ishiguro, The Remains of the Day. Vintage International. (ISBN: 978-0679731726). You must use this edition.

Optional:

M. H. Abrams and Geoffrey Galt Harpham, A Glossary of Literary Terms, Wadsworth Publishing. This is a crucial part of any literature student’s personal library but it is quite expensive new. If you are an English major, I encourage you to purchase any used edition edited by both Abrams and Harpham.
