In this lab, walkability is evaluated using Geoplanner’s analysis tool. Using the 5, 10, 15, and 20 minute walk times, the following analysis is ran. First, transit stops are added to the chosen site (the northeast site). Then, walkability is rated from the transit stops.
Comparing Northwest and Northeast Sites
Agricultural Ranch: Low- 32.43%, no further data
Open Space Conservation: Low- 77.74%, no further data
Active Recreation Field: Low- 72.24%, Medium 27.79%, no further data
Picnic Area: Low- 93.34%, no further data
Stormwater Management: Low- 99.9%, no further data
Community Garden: Medium 86.9%, Low- 11.35%
Parking: Medium- Low- 60.18%, Medium 39.93%
Agricultural Ranch: High 4.9%, Medium 2.3%
Open Space Conservation: no data
Active Recreation Field: High+ 96.03%, no further data
Picnic Area: no data
Stormwater Management: High+ 46.67%, no further data
Community Garden: no data
Parking: Medium- High+ 45.01%, no further data
It is clear from the results that the northeast site is superior in terms of walkability to the two transit stops.
Comparing Northeast and Modified Northeast Site
Agricultural Ranch: High 2.35%, no further data
Open Space Conservation: no data
Active Recreation Field: no data
Picnic Area: no data
Stormwater Management: High+ 56.66%, no further data
Community Garden: no data
Parking: Medium- High+ 90.09%, no further data
When the modified site is compared to the original northeast site, the modified site is superior. This is due to the design of the site which allows for greater pedestrian access near the transit stops.
Comparison Using Side by Side
The side by side feature in Geoplanner’s evaluate tab allows easier comparison by showing the exact same zoom extent for differing scenarios. However, the dashboard is specific to the individual scenarios. Using this, it is easy to compare the original northeast and modified northeast sites.
