I’m a 4th year English and Economics double major with a passion for language and stories in all shapes and forms. My hobbies include discussing the minutia of word choice way longer than anyone else is interested and taking relatively short walks on the beach while tossing little small rocks and looking out….over there. I believe that the overall trajectory of human history is positive, but my friends call me a deluded optimist and a glutton so what do I know about complex historical and economic trends? Read my work to find out why Shakespeare deserves to have everyone constantly going on about how great he is.

I’m a non-traditional student who returned to UGA after 25 years to pursue my English Education degree.  I want to teach high school students in a creative and engaging manner.  I am passionate about connecting with them and teaching literature in a way that helps them understand how relevant it is in their lives now and when they leave the classroom.  There were many times in my career that I silently thanked the wonderful English teachers I had in school and college.  I spend my free time on our family farm with horses, mini-donkeys, a pot-bellied pig, and dogs.  A farm requires work every day, but the connection to nature calms my soul and clears my mind.

I am a fourth-year English Education major at UGA. I am set to begin student teaching in August 2016 at Madison County High School. My hobbies include binge watching Grey’s Anatomy (over halfway through season 9), playing Family Feud, and taking walks along the beach this summer. I am interested in seeing my future students develop both academically and socially. Read my work to see the effectiveness that guided notes can have upon inclusive classrooms by providing all students (disability and non-disability) equal opportunity and access to classroom material. I chose this topic because it is so relevant to my future and is definitely something I plan to incorporate into my classroom.

I am a fourth year English and English Education dual major. I have been wanting to be a teacher since I was in Kindergarten and now am finally beginning my student teaching at Collins Hill High School. I want to eventually become an English professor, but my next step after graduation is to teach English abroad for a couple of years. My hobbies include travelling, reading on park benches, living off of coffee, and frequenting museums. Read about my work in order to find out how and why art has the natural ability to stir internal emotions, with and without being related to composition. I believe that nobody truly hates to read, they just haven’t found that one book yet, and hope to inspire students to expand their perspectives and free their own form of expression.
