Heather Padilla of the Workplace Health Group receives two awards for presentation at Society of Behavioral Medicine

Heather Padilla, a doctoral student in the Workplace Health Group, received recognition for her abstract submission titled, “Standing Workstations Increase Occupational Physical Activity in Public Health Workers “. She received the Graduate Student Abstract Award for Outstanding Research in Pain or Palliative Care from the Pain SIG, and the Student Abstract Award from the Student SIG. The full abstract is published in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine, 2016, Volume 50, Supplement 1, on page S25. Coauthors include Dr. Mark Wilson, Elizabeth Parr, Dr. Jennifer Gay, and Susanne Koch. UGA researchers awarded USDA-NIFA grant to train undergraduates in obesity research

Dr. Jennifer Gay is part of a multi-disciplinary team that will mentor undergraduate students from minority or disadvantaged communities in obesity research, including physical activity and health. Funded by the USDA, the Youth Obesity Undergraduate Research and Extension—Y.O.U.R.E. team will mentor 10 undergraduates each year for three years.
