\"\"<\/a><\/span>I am graduating from the <\/span>University of Georgia<\/b> with a B.A. in journalism and a Design and Media minor. In the fall, I am continuing my education by pursing a master’s in journalism at the University of Georgia.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, I’m the Editor-in-Chief of<\/span> InfUSion Magazine<\/b>, the first and only multicultural publication at UGA. I was the creative director for two years and I expanded my media portfolio with photos, graphics and layouts I made for the magazine.<\/span><\/p>\n

While at Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, I’ve had stories published in <\/span>Grady Newsource<\/b> and joined the <\/span>National Press Photographers Association<\/b> UGA Chapter. I’ve had the opportunity these past two years to spend my time volunteering for the <\/span>NPPA Best of Photojournalism Competition<\/b> in the Still Photo and Online Video Presentation and Innovation category. I learned what quality visual journalism looks like and what makes a compelling story while listening to professional journalists critique the submissions throughout the weekend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m also a culture writer and photojournalist for <\/span>The Red & Black<\/b>. I’ve written stories for both print and digital including features, event coverage, explainers and reviews. I’ve also worked on the photo desk to cover UGA and Athens events, sports and take portraits.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a journalist, I am committed to respecting the stories and lived experiences of my sources and documenting those stories with integrity. My journalism capstone class has taught me about the importance of social justice journalism and holding systems of power accountable while giving a voice to those oppressed by those systems. By seeking the truth and keeping our communities informed on the experiences of their neighbors who often go unheard, I hope to tell stories that highlight diverse voices and inspire social change.<\/p>\n

In my free time, you can find me visiting local restaurants with friends, hiking or exploring new places with my camera in hand.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
