About

Hannah Freeman is a journalism student at the University of Georgia. She devoted much of her time in high school to the school’s newspaper and yearbook as an editor, through which she found her love of writing.

Freeman began her college education at the University of South Florida as a communication major. She transferred to UGA in the summer of 2023 to pursue her passion for journalism. She was admitted to Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication the following semester.

While attending Grady College, Freeman immersed herself as a journalist reporting on sustainability in the Athens community. In the fall of 2024, she collaborated with the Clayton Tribune to grow her news-gathering skills. She is currently a reporter and editor for the Oglethorpe Echo in Oglethorpe County, GA.

When she is not writing, Freeman enjoys reading books and baking. Her favorite author is Joan Didion, who inspired her to pursue a career in journalism. She has a passion for music and loves listening to The Strokes, David Bowie and The 1975.

As she continues her career as a journalist, Freeman hopes to one day write for publications like Vogue and The New Yorker.
