Broadcast

Below are packages and segments that I have put together throughout my time at the University of Georgia. Take a look at a few of my favorites.

In my Sportsource class I got to go out on campus and speak with random students about their thoughts on which Georgia Bulldogs might be drafted in the NFL Draft in April 2024.

I covered surrounding counties and UGA sports. This story is based on a highschool senior from Jefferson county highschool who was committed to play football at Troy University. I got the chance to interview him and his headcoach on how this process unfolded and what it meant to Brian.

Throughout my time with Skillshow I interviewed baseball players from the University of Georgia. This is an interview with Ethan Sutton about his highschool to college days. This is just a back and forth interview about his life with baseball.

Georgia Volleyball set the states attendance record at one of their home matches this year. This story highlights how UGA pushed out the game on social media and the planing behind it, what it meant to the fans, and to the players. I interviewed fans, players, and administrators.

Throughout my time in Newsource for the University of Georgia, I covered the Oconee County Board of Education. I covered an array of issues and stories with this beat. One of the biggest stories this semester was school safety after the tragic events that happened at Apalachee High School. The events that transpired had an effect on the other surrounding areas including Oconee. This was a story that went when I was going live on air to cover the board meeting about motioning for School Resource Officers in all of the Oconee County Schools not just two. This story talks about why the board decided to place two resource officers in their two high schools and why they saw the need for it. The link below will show what happened at the board meeting I covered and the effects the community.

While in Newsource this year we were in the middle of election season and while covering the education beat I got to do a story on a local highschool club who created their own voting registration drive to register high school seniors. I spoke to advisors and students.

This story is about a recent graduate who started her own swim program to teach children how to swim, but more importantly how it helps children learn life skills not just swimming.

Producing

I got to see the inner workings of a newsroom and helped my classmates with helping write and produce their shows. This show is the one I fully produced. I wrote the teases, transitions, ledes, and ordered the show. This was a really cool experience to learn and teach myself.

For one of our final shows with Grady Newsource we put on a solutions journalism show. This is where we go out in the community and figure out what problems or issues are there and then we research and find possible solutions for those issues. I got to anchor this show and I was a part of the Oconee County’s piece on traffic.
