My name is Maggie Smith. I graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2021 with a Bachelor’s in Anthropology, a Women’s Studies Minor, and a Sustainability Certificate. I am now attending Georgia State University in order to obtain my Master’s in Anthropology. I am excited to continue my studies in order to become an Anthropologist and eventually a professor. I am planning to develop skills that will allow me to not only conduct research with communities, but to also help contribute to solving problems those people face. Currently, I am most interested in understanding the effects of NGO intervention on Indigenous and local communities. But, my ultimate goal is to work with people across the world to answer some of the biggest questions and solve some of the most pressing problems facing marginalized and Indigenous peoples regarding their rights, their autonomy, and their relationships with changing environments.
