Well, a bit. At the end of last semester, the good people at the Teaching the Codex blog – a blog on teaching manuscript studies (sound familiar?) out of Oxford University, co-directed by Tristan E. Franklinos and Mary Boyle – invited me to write a guest post about my Hargrett Hours classes. So of course I had to write about the great fun we had in Fall 2017 studying the chemical makeup of medieval inks and pigments with the help of UGA’s CAIS lab. That post, “The Science of Medieval Pigments: Teaching the Materials Analysis of Manuscripts in the Undergraduate Classroom,” is now live – click through and take a look. And while you’re at it, give Teaching the Codex a follow on Twitter (@TeachingCodex) and check out the other posts on their blog. There’s lots of great pedagogical ideas and student discoveries there.
