About

I am a third-year journalism major at the University of Georgia, aspiring to work in sports communications.

Since arriving at UGA, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA each semester. In my journalism classes I have practiced writing in AP style, using social media for journalistic purposes and effective interviewing. I turn in assignments on time and to the best of my ability. I work well with others and enjoy receiving feedback. I also have experience pitching story ideas, as my group, covering Diversity and Equity, won first place in the Reporting I Beat Pitch Competition.

I have written basketball game recaps for WUOG 90.5 FM and am a beat mentor for new reporting students. I am in my first semester of classes for the Sports Media Certificate in the Carmical Sports Media Institute, practicing communication skills specifically for sports. Additionally, I have bolstered my communication skills through work as a competitive sports official with UGA’s Department of Recreational Sports.

I grew up playing and watching soccer, and my goal is to work in the communications department for a professional soccer team. I am a member of UGA’s Premier League Club, a niche group that analyzes and discusses the English Premier League, and I play intramural soccer.

I am minoring in Spanish, and hope the skills I learn can supplement my work. I studied in Sevilla, Spain for six weeks this past summer to immerse myself in the language and culture. I understand the significance of the language not only in soccer, but in the context of the United States’ growing Spanish-speaking population.
