My name is Justin Morris. I am 22 years old and, at the time I’m writing this, I am about to graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism.
As written about in the introduction to this portfolio, I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was a kid. I only wanted to write fiction at that time, and while I do write fictional pieces now, I’ve also expanded my interest into non-fiction (as is the case with the memoir read just before “Green Vein” and “Little Paper Boats.”
I also enjoy writing rhetorical and critical pieces (as represented by the book review). This is the type of writing I’ll be doing the most of in my professional career, as I am beginning law school in the upcoming semester.
However, I still enjoy creative fiction writing the most of all these and I intend to continue writing fiction pieces on the side throughout my career.
I chose “Green Vein” to represent my fiction writing in this portfolio because I feel it is the most representative of my writing style, the themes and the people I like to write about.
