Hello everyone, my name is Connor Stephan and I am a 4th year here at UGA! I’ve gotten to read a ton of blog posts and you guys are much more interesting than me! I grew up in a small town in south Georgia called Tifton. The coolest thing we have there is probably a bowling alley and that’s really the extent of it. I transferred from a community college there in Tifton because I wanted to take my education more seriously and I have been able to learn, and meet a ton of cool people. For the most part I want to take my education and go into consulting. Maybe something geared towards tech consulting but that is something fast approaching and quite scary when I haven’t really figured it out. I always get told “don’t worry, you’ll find a job” and I do understand but it stresses the hell out of me.
I fell in love with the idea of working in business but also being able to working with the ever growing technology that the world has to offer. After taking MIST2090 with Jetha, I thought huh, this may be something I’d actually enjoy as before I was pursuing a degree in Finance. But this was all because of a decision I made back in 2020, and that was that I wanted to start my own YouTube channel and get people interested in investing. I never told anyone what to buy, or what to invest in as you have to leave that to the professionals. But I learned about companies that were publicly traded and talked about the intricacies of a company. This was my first real time that I felt like a professional, companies were offering me money to talk about them and to an 18 year old it was crazy to me! After I spent so much time making videos everyday I decided it wasn’t for me anymore as once I don’t enjoy something, I’m not going to continue to do it. But this was is going to be a small portion of my career because if I do decide to go back into YouTube, it’ll be something that feel more fun, and less like a job.

I really like the outdoors, sports, and travelling.
I like the outdoors as I enjoy doing things like hiking, skiing, and white water rafting when I get the chance.
Another avenue of my life is sports and fortunately I go to a great school with an awesome football team, I go to Braves games, and occasionally I’ll go to a Jacksonville Jaguars game despite them not playing the best since 2017. Hopefully I can come back to this post and the Jags would have won the super bowl but one can only dream. Also, the picture above was when I went to New York City! One of my best friends got the opportunity to intern at Barstool Sports and it was awesome seeing the city and the different perspectives. But, it’s 100% not somewhere I want to live.
I just now realize that I didn’t really have a plan on how I was going to write this but I’m not going to stop the organic nature of my sub par writing abilities.
Course Expectations:
I got the opportunity to speak with Dr. Kane last semester via LinkedIn and he told me about the great ways this course will develop your knowledge as a student. Unfortunately I missed the first week of class after getting covid (probably from strip after we won the natty) and didn’t really get to take in the first real day as I do realize, you miss 1 class, and you miss and entire weeks worth of work. He truly peaked my interest when he discussed the “heavy hitters” we’d see from the guest speaker sessions and I thought this would be a great opportunity to genuinely understand the minds of people that operate at such a high level.
I think that’ll mainly wrap up everything I wanted to discuss about myself, and I’m more than welcome to talk more to anyone about quite literally anything!
