My Final Thoughts

Class structure:

The class structure of MIST 5720 is truly like no other. I remember curiously registering for this class in November of 2022, honestly hoping this would be an easy “A” class for my last college semester. Although this class was certainly not extremely easy, it was enjoyable and unforgettable. There were no exams or finals or quizzes. This class is purely graded on your ability to participate and be engaged with the rest of the class.  When beginning this class in January, I was so unsure of how to keep up with the class and make sure I am meeting the deadlines. It became apparent quickly, however, that this class was not meant to reflect how well I can memorize some notes, but rather my ability to communicate and manage my time.

Guest Speakers:

The fact that my classmates and I were able to gain a plethora of advice and knowledge from important executives from various industries blows my mind. I truly am so appreciative of Professor Kane for making the effort to organize time for these guest speakers to speak to the class and have us engaged in meaningful conversation. I learned so much about the venture capital industry, which I had very limited knowledge of before, and I got to host a speaker from The Coca-Cola Company! How cool does that sound?

Twitter:

I never was an active user on Twitter, and I still will not be after this class. I truly am not a fan of Twitter, and it is hard for me to utilize the app. I did enjoy scrolling and reading the cool tweets my classmates were posting, but I personally found it difficult to find motivation to participate in the Twitter chats.

Blog Posts:

My favorite part of this course is the blog posts! I loved reading numerous interesting topics relating to digital innovation or AI. Many people blogged about new and upcoming innovations, such as the 3-D printed homes, and I learned about AI in more depth and real-world applications. It’s so amazing to see how technology is changing our world. I feel that there is a never-ending list of reasons why technical revolutions have improved and changed our lives forever. Additionally, blogging was a great way to keep my writing skills in check.

Conclusion:

It’s hard to believe that this class and my college career are over. I am grateful for all that I have gained from listening to guest speakers and reading a handful of blogs, and I hope everyone will use what they learned from this class to further advance in their future endeavors. Good luck, and enjoy your summer!

  1. Hey Nazneen! I loved your final blog of the semester. This class gave me great relief when I saw there wouldn’t be any quizzes or tests. I particularly enjoyed blogging the most this semester but my Twitter game wasn’t too good.
