Hello MIST5720, my name is Elaine Co, and I am currently a third-year student at UGA. I am hopefully in my last semester graduating with my bachelor’s in management information systems. I transferred from Georgia Tech my sophomore year and I can honestly say it was the best decision. I’m currently working on updating my resume and avidly looking for internships or even full-time jobs after graduation. If all else fails, I would consider completing more school such as a master’s degree. I took this course in the hopes of learning different skills that would help me when I ultimately join the workforce. As technology continues to evolve, we must adhere to the changes and evolve with it. I’m excited to see what speakers we will meet from this class and hope to make important connections.
I grew up in Gainesville, Georgia but I spent a lot of time going back and forth to Duluth to see my mom. Although it was a relatively small town, I had a great high school experience and was able to make some lifelong friends. I was involved in very typical high school clubs such as Student Council and Interact club. I spent several Saturday mornings at 6 am attempting to help build a house for Habitat Humanity. Besides being a studious highschooler, I spent a lot of my time serving at a local hibachi restaurant. In my free time, I loved driving to Duluth with my sisters and friends to eat Asian food and go to the cafes to get desserts and drink boba. Although the year 2020 was off to a great start, COVID ended my senior year quickly. I spent much of a quarantine binge watching Netflix and paddleboarding on the lake. My freshman year was a lonely time as my classes were online. The Atlanta life wasn’t for me, and I chose to transition my life to Athens. My sister, Stephanie happened to be at UGA, and it made the transition an easy one. When I’m not shopping at Trader Joes, I’m probably at the MLC watching Netflix instead of doing homework.
Last summer was an eventful time for me. I bought a little baby corgi and named him Bean. Being a summer baby, I went to California for the first time with my sisters in July and had one of the best times. We did all tourist things such as go to Disneyland, visit the Santa Monica Pier, and go to Japan town. I finally got to eat all the things I saw on TikTok and much more. I finished off my summer going to Panama City Beach with my sister and my best friend. Although I didn’t get the beach tan of the century, I had a blast and can’t wait for summer to come again. My upcoming trips include going to Toronto during the wintertime and Las Vegas for my 21st birthday.

Some fun facts about me include my love of sleeping, my best friend is my 13-year-old chihuahua named Versace, and my death row last meal would be spaghetti. I’ve been bartending for 3 years now, and I would do it forever if people weren’t Karens and my back didn’t hurt all the time. I love traveling but I haven’t gotten to travel to all the places I want to, such as Germany, Peru, Korea, China and Japan just to name a few. I am Vietnamese and Chinese, but I don’t know too much about my culture. I took 3 years of Mandarin in high school and college and fell in love with the culture. I am very much introverted and stepping out of my comfort zone is somewhat challenging. I have an Amazon and Target shopping addiction which doesn’t help my credit card. I love listening to old Taylor Swift songs on blast and love the Arctic Monkeys. I love cooking pasta and sunny side up eggs with toast, but I hate doing the dishes afterwards.
Hey Elaine! It’s nice to meet you through your blog! Love your photos of your dogs by the way, very cute. It’s cool to see that you built houses for Habitat for Humanity. My mom and I use to do that together when I was still in high school. Spaghetti would probably be my death-row last meal as well.
Hey Elaine! Loved reading your blog and enjoyed the images of bean and versace. I love those names and theyre very cute. Im Italian so I love spaghetti but I dont think it would be my death row meal however.
Hi Elaine! My aunt lives in Gainseville so that is a town I am quite familiar with! I also live basically in Duluth, such a small world. I also recently got a cat this summer so it looks like we both got pets recently.
