This course was definitely something different to what I have been used to these past three years at the University of Georgia. Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship has taught me the importance of what it means to innovate and how these new innovations will impact our present and our future. I know we talked a lot about artificial intelligence and its place in today’s society, and I am so glad we did because prior to this class, I had no idea what it was all about. Learning the foundations of this developing technology and reading about its variety of applications through the weekly blog posts was so interesting and helpful. The blog posts that I wrote taught me a lot about new and developing technologies; my favorite posts that I wrote involved the creation of robotic bees and the history of virtual reality. I got to learn so much from the format of this class, including Twitter.
Personally, I had so much fun using Twitter and interacting with my classes on a variety of topics including the hype of AI, Spotify AI DJ, cryptocurrency, and more. It was a good way to get to know my classmates and interact with Dr. Kane as well. At first, I did not know how the format of this class would play out; I was a bit nervous considering there would be no exams, no traditional classroom setting, and our grades would not be tracked 24/7. However, with the blog posts and Twitter discussions, I had a lot of fun participating. Whenever we met in person, I would always enjoy hearing Dr. Kane speak about different topics like AI, machine learning, venture capital, and bitcoin mining. The readings and videos we were assigned helped prepare me for our small group discussions and general class discussions. Even though this was a 3 hour class, Dr. Kane managed to keep us engaged throughout the entire class period through these captivating discussions. We were also able to learn about different career opportunities within the MIS/technology field; I really needed these discussions because it seemed to me that everyone was just going into consulting right out of college, but I learned a lot about the development and maintenance of start up companies. Because of this class, I’ve realized that consulting isn’t the only route I could go into post-graduation, and it opened up my eyes to a lot more opportunities.
My favorite part of this class was definitely the speaker sessions. Some of my favorite speakers this semester were Jere Doyle, Anh Phillips, and Mark Mahoney. I feel like I learned so much from them and gained a lot of good advice based on their careers and experiences. All of the speakers gave great advice, and I loved learning about fields that I was not very familiar with going into this class. I learned a lot about entrepreneurship, venture capital, and public policy from a variety of the speakers this semester. I now have a good understanding of what each of these fields entails and how they go hand in hand with what I’ve learned in this class and the MIS major in general. The topic that touched me the most however, was entrepreneurship. Listening to so many founders and successful entrepreneurs really sparked something within me, and I am now inspired to one day start my own business. I knew that I eventually wanted to start a business, but now, I’m thinking of ways to get started early based on the advice I’ve heard from speakers.
This class definitely changed my perspective on a lot of things including my career, the state of modern innovations and technology, and how I interact with others in general. I do not regret taking this class one bit, and I will definitely encourage my Terry friends to take this class if taught again next semester! Thanks for everything, everyone! I am looking forward to seeing how you all grow in your careers.

Hey Angela! I resonated a lot with your final post as this class showed us there are so many different avenues in our career we can pursue. I loved hearing from entrepreneur themselves speaking about the start to their businesses and the roadblocks they encountered. Even though we met all of them on Zoom, the experience was just as great and impactful.
Hey Angela! I completely feel the same away about entrepreneurship. This class got to take us through the trials and tribulations as well as the success of these entrepreneurs. It was a blessing to be able to talk to so many wonderful people from so many diverse backgrounds. Everyone in the class for the most part, is able to say that they were able to see someone who looked like them which is a blessing.
Great wrap up post. If those were your takeaways, then I consider it “mission accomplished”
I also really liked listening to Mark Mahoney. The way he turned his interest into a business is a great example for young entrepreneurs. It is important for you to be invested into the idea that you want to great as it will mean that much more!
Hey Angela lots of things I agree with in this post. I agree this class has changed my perspective so much in so many avenues. I know my career and path has been second-guessed and I can attribute it to the things ive learned in this class.
