Before signing up for this class, I had no idea what I was actually getting myself into. All I knew is that I needed a major elective and this one had a cool title, but if I were to go back to registration last semester I would definitely pick this course again. This course has transformed my perspective on technology and entrepreneurship and has changed the ways that I approach certain topics, especially in the business world. Not only that, but this course has equipped me with the skills and tools to tackle challenges and identify opportunities in this rapidly evolving digital world.
In this course, we were challenged to discover new topics in the Technology world weekly. We were exposed to these topics in various ways such as Twitter, blog posts, in-class discussions, etc. I found it very interesting that we were able to utilize Twitter as a tool for learning and engaging with our classmates. It was cool being able to see what my classmates found interesting each week and give my own thoughts as well. The in-class discussions were also really cool. Each week the topics would change which I felt added more value to the course and added to its authenticity.
One of the highlights and personally my favorite part of this course was definitely the guest speakers. I enjoyed being able to hear each speaker’s experiences, insights, and advice that they were willing to share with us. As someone with only one semester left in college, hearing from people from various fields with various experience levels and different backgrounds helps me gain valuable insights and perspectives on potential career paths and the professional world in general. It was also an awesome experience being able to host my own speaker. Kelsey ended up being a great addition to the class and I took away a lot of lessons that I plan to incorporate into my life for years. My biggest takeaway from the guest speakers is that it is okay to look into more than just big corporations when looking for a job after school. There are so many other professional outlets, like working for a start-up or even starting your own business, that may be even better for you.
In conclusion, taking this course has been a truly transformative experience. What started out as just a simple class to fill a major elective quickly became one of my favorite classes here at UGA. Overall, I would highly recommend this class to anyone who trying to gain valuable insights on technology, entrepreneurship, or just life in general.
