The End Of A Chapter #MIST5720

Published on Author shehzadrashid

I am so glad I got to take such a great class this semester. Last November, I was still determining what MIS elective I should take. I heard about other electives, such as energy informatics and business intelligence, and looked at the course descriptions and class times and felt like there was something out there that was a better class to take as an elective. I was taking project management last semester and heard about MIST 5720 there. After looking at the course description for MIST5720, I was fascinated to learn digital innovation and entrepreneurship. I knew this class was a 3-hour class, but looking back on it, signing up for it was one of the best decisions I made.

After the first day of class, I was skeptical about how this class would turn out. I was always used to classes having exams and assignments and following the same general format. After hearing we would be writing blog posts, I was scared because I knew that writing was not one of my strengths. I was also skeptical of Twitter because I am not into social media and needed to learn how tweets would help me learn. My views have changed, and I am glad that we get to use Twitter just because I see so many cool tweets, and it’s a great way to learn and interact with one another. I loved how collaborative this class was and loved the group of students in the class and thought it was a great group. I learned so many cool things reading all the excellent blog posts, and it was fascinating to see topics ranging from things such as quantum computing to AI affecting the music industry.

I thank Dr.Kane for bringing speakers from diverse backgrounds to speak to us. I learned something valuable from each speaker, and some of my favorites include Dennis Crawley and Rich Nanda. I also loved how each speaker brought a new perspective on how to do things and learned many things I didn’t know before, such as venture capital and the trials and tribulations of starting a company. I will take away what I learned in these sessions to help me in my future endeavors. I am glad that this class showed me how to have a growth and learning mindset.

This class changed the way I look at technology and innovation. Learning about AI and using chatGPT has been beneficial because the technology will only grow over the years. Overall, this has been my favorite class throughout my time at UGA, and I recommend this class to anyone if it gets taught again. Thank you, Dr.Kane, for making learning fun and providing resources we can use professionally. I hope to stay in contact with all of you guys and wish everyone the best for their future.

  1. Great blog post! I think it was particularly interesting how you touched on this class helping you iron out your future endeavors a bit more. This class allowed so many talented people from diverse backgrounds come in and talk to us in a manner that we would not have had access to ourselves. For that, I will always thank Professor Kane!

  2. Great post and summary! I am glad this class was able to keep me on track with current digital innovations particularly in AI. I feel that I not only learned more about technical advancements in this class, but I also was able to practice my professional development skills and meet so many cool people.

  3. I really enjoyed reading this wrap up and could relate to having to choose a MIS elective. I was in the same boat wondering which course I was going to take and read the description for this class and knew it was something special. A lot of the credit for this class is due to Dr Kane and what he has accomplished, great post!
