Composting Info-graphic

Composting Info-graphic

What:

This info-graphic is intellectually stimulating because it provides useful information about the reason’s behind composting. It doesn’t just tell you that you can do something, but it tells you what to do, and why you should do it. It is also creative because the visual design is well thought out and is visually appealing.

Gut:

This graphic invokes a surprising amount of hope for me. I constantly hear about environmental issues, but I don’t really ever hear about what we can do to prevent them, so it’s nice seeing something which both informs people of these issues while also giving a viable solution to them.

So What:

I hadn’t really ever thought about the effect that methane might be having. When people talk about greenhouse gases, most people will think of carbon dioxide. However, it’s probably important to remember that other gasses have negative effects and can come from other sources beyond the classic ‘pollution source’ such as cars and factories.

Now What:

I know that I’ve never really given thought to how much my food waste might be affecting our world, so it could be nice to include similar information in our info-graphic for students, as I would assume many of them haven’t considered this as well.

  1. The infographic is trying to get its readers to compost. Its goal is to inform, and also encourage the reader to do their research. The font is a little funky, but the color scheme is very natural and earthy which I like. Also, the different subsections of information are separated by different colors and the pictures are very vivid and clear. The authors should have taken out the variations in fonts, as it is almost dizzying at times going from idea to idea. A title for this infographic could be “Composting Craziness.”

  2. I really like this infographic, i feel that it is very easy to read and plays around with an interesting font to gain the attention of the reader. This infographic is trying to convince the reader to compost by getting a few main points across. It starts out by talking about food scraps and how 47 percent of the trash is compostable. I like that it gives some info on that and then talks about methane. It portrays the solution as composting and gives a few key points to the good of composting. I feel that the pictures add a really nice touch that emphasizes the key points for the area that they are placed, like the really nasty trash when talking about trash. I think that the font could be a little bit bigger with the script that the author chose to use. The title that could be used for this infographic could be: “The cure in composting.”
