I feel like when people hear I majored in media studies, this is the work they assume I am doing. Which I was! So I wanted to feature some of my more media analysis-style essays to show 1) the range of what I normally work on and 2) how I think about the media I consume. I have broken this up into three sections, namely my work using archival materials (from the Walter J. Brown Media Archives & Peabody Awards Collection), my work focusing on sociolinguistics, and my work featuring post-digital either distribution mediums or interpretations. Learning to practice media analysis using different kinds of lenses has been a critical part of my Entertainment & Media Studies coursework, as well as my more humanities-based disciplines.
